Around the AFC West

Well, it's about that time in the season where the performance of division rivals starts to have more and more significance. Here's how the division looks:

Team
Record
Division Record
Chargers
4 - 1
2 - 0
Raiders
3 - 2
1 - 0
Chiefs
2 - 3
0 - 1
Broncos
1 - 4
0 - 2

If the Chiefs had pulled off the win in San Diego, that would have been huge, but right now, 2-3 doesn't look bad for the Chiefs, and they will be able to prove if they deserve consideration at contention or not after the bye week, when they play Oakland and San Diego.

Regarding some other AFC West teams, the Raiders lost their owner Al Davis this weekend. I am not one of those people over 40 that remember Al Davis as a great coach and football genius. I am someone who appreciates how unique of a character he was and that his presence will be missed throughout not just Oakland, but the whole NFL.

And in Denver, the impossible has happened. The Broncos have named Tim Tebow the starting quarterback. He lead a resurgence in the second half for the Broncos against the Chargers, yet fell short of winning the game. He replaces the ineffective Kyle Orton, and jumps the backup Brady Quinn to become the starting quarterback. Tebowmania is in full force.
