Whats Wright?

Well, Nick Wright has done it again. He's agitated the front office of the Kansas City Chiefs.

About an hour before his show comes on 610 Sports, Wright tweeted that he had "learned some very explosive, but not surprising, information about the #Chiefs." That information, revealed at the beginning of his show, was that "multiple #Chiefs personnel told [him] Scott Pioli had decided to fire Todd Haley had the #Chiefs lost to the Colts on Sunday."

That is a bombshell, but surprisingly, I wasn't shocked. There were rumors floating around the Kansas City media that Pioli would have fired Haley if they had lost to the Vikings. A firing after a loss to the Colts and sinking the record down to 1-4 I guess would have been just as bad to Pioli as an 0-4 start.

Now, before I go any further, I must say that this is all speculation. We can't talk to the sources Nick Wright can, so we can't always trust that they are reliable. Also, if we are capable of believing Nick Wright, then we should be open to listening to Scott Pioli, who addressed the matter shortly after Wright broke the story.

According to Joel Thorman of Arrowhead Pride, who was able to talk to Scott Pioli for a couple of minutes this afternoon, reports that Pioli said Wright's story was "100 percent false" and repeatedly refuted it.

Depending on who you want to believe, Todd Haley seems to still be on the hot seat in Kansas City even after two straight wins entering the bye. Haley has also had to face more injuries this season except for maybe Jim Caldwell in Indianapolis, and he's not on the hot seat.

If what Nick Wright said is true, and I'm not saying that it is, then I have lost all faith in the Pioli regime. Not only is firing a coach coming off a playoff year dumb, but firing one after five games while suffering season ending injuries to three starters (not to mention the lockout) is even dumber. If Haley had been fired, then the stories of front office politics and backstabbing going on at 1 Arrowhead Drive would be verified.

But like with most things, a win makes things much easier for everyone. In the meantime, enjoy your bye week off from stress and anxiety, relax, and let's hope Wright's story is false.
