Is the #Suck4Luck Campaign Over Now?

I must admit, despite how incredibly good it felt winning yesterday, a little, tiny, microscopic part of me was disappointed. That part was the little bit of nervous excitement I had created from imagining having Andrew Luck as our quarterback next year.

Despite, however, our much awaited victory against the Vikings, the Chiefs aren't entirely out of the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. It's true though that the #Suck4Luck campaign did hit a major snag yesterday.

Here's how I see it:

There are three teams that are 0-4. The Miami Dolphins, the St. Louis Rams, and the Minnesota Vikings. One other team, the Indianapolis Colts, are 0-3 and play tonight (and they will most likely be 0-4 by the end of today).

There are seven 1-3 teams as of right now. The Jacksonville Jaguars, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks, the Carolina Panthers, the Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Out of these teams, I believe there are several who would trade the first overall pick, or just simply not draft Andrew Luck. The St. Louis Rams and Carolina Panthers already have a number one overall quarterback with Sam Bradford and Cam Newton respectively. The Minnesota Vikings reached but nevertheless took quarterback Christian Ponder number 12 overall in the 2011 draft. The Jaguars are in the same predicament with their rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert going number 10 overall in 2011. The Colts still have Peyton Manning so could trade that pick for quite a lot to help Manning out. The Eagles still have Michael Vick and his $100 million contract. And the Arizona Cardinals traded quite a bit to get Kevin Kolb, so they're set at quarterback.

Now you might be thinking any team would be stupid to not pick Luck number one overall. Well that's simply not the case. If they already spent a first round pick on a quarterback in 2011, and they take another one in 2012, then they essentially just wasted a first round draft pick in either 2011 or 2012. That's why I think the rookie quarterbacks of 2011 are safe from being replaced by the next John Elway.

So that leaves us with four legitimate contenders at this point in the season. The Miami Dolphins are the front runner, followed closely by the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Dolphins have played a lot of close games this year but haven't been able to break out. Chad Henne hasn't been playing the greatest football, and the fans are praying they are the Lucky recipient. The Seahawks have Tavaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst which means they don't really have a quarterback at all, and they would love to get a hold of Luck since they missed out on hometown product Jake Locker in 2011. We all know the Chiefs situation, and how nice it would be to get our hands on our first legitimate franchise quarterback, but I am giving the edge in this one to none other then the Denver Broncos.

You know John Elway would love to get his hands on the second coming of .... uh .... himself, and the Broncos seem awful enough to pull it off. Kyle Orton is playing miserable, which could open the door for Tim Tebow and guarantee a horrible season. This would nearly guarantee a couple of win season at the most, and put the Broncos sitting pretty with possibly the number one overall pick.

For those out there that were strongly disappointed with the Chiefs win this weekend, don't be discouraged. If you still want a quarterback in the first round, there are still going to be ones available:

Matt Barkley (#Bark4Barkley) - USC Junior: 133/188 (70.7%) 1,587 yards, 14 TDs 4 INTs
Landry Jones (#Let'sLandLandry) - OU Junior: 111/155 (71.6%) 1,447 yards 10 TDs 5 INTs
Robert Griffin III (#Slippin4Griffin) - Baylor Junior: 93/113 (82.3%) 1,308 yards 18 TDs 1 INT
