Not another Illness!

This morning has been a little chaotic, and if not chaotic, then at least a little mysterious.

It started off with the signing of veteran wide receiver Kevin Curtis. Then the Kansas City Star reported that wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and offensive lineman Brian Waters were absent from practice today.

And so the speculation began.

Was Dwayne Bowe injured? Is our Pro Bowl wide receiver going to miss the upcoming playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens? Is this the reason why we are bringing in Curtis, to fill in for an injured Bowe?

Without Dwayne Bowe, our passing game isn't that threatening and teams would be able to just load up the box to stop the run. Without Bowe, the Chiefs are in big trouble.

Then, a short time later, the Star added that Haley said in his press conference that both Bowe and Waters were just ill. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora then reported that Bowe's absense was nothing more than an illness and the Chiefs are "confident" that Bowe will play Sunday.

Then later, Shan Shariff of 610 sports radio Kansas City reported that it was the stomach flu.

This is a lot of reporting for such a short amount of time.

Hopefully, La Canfora is correct in his reporting and that Bowe is just feeling a little under the weather. Nothing more has been reported on Waters, though, so that's probably a good sign. In their first playoff game, or first one in atleast in a few years, it would be hard to imagine that any players that are just sick would miss a game of this magnitude.

But coach Haley never seems to do something without a reason. Which made me wonder if Bowe's and Waters' absence is more serious of an illness than the Chiefs are letting on.

Then Josh Looney from the Chiefs website posted that Bowe's and Water's absense was strictly a sickness and that the Curtis signing was just coincidence. He instructed us all to take a "collective sigh of relief."

No offense Looney, but I'll take a sigh of relief when I see them on the field Sunday.

Today, the Chiefs also signed tight end Cody Slate to the practice squard and sent defensive back Donald Washington to season-ending injured reserve. Washington has been inactive the last couple of weeks.
